FUNDRAISER
ROUND TABLE INDIA
(2017)
This project was a component of the 'Freedom Through Education' fundraising program at Nyenrode New Business School. Our objective was to raise a substantial amount of funds through self-initiative to aid in the construction of educational facilities in India. As part of the initiative, our team visited Calcutta to witness firsthand how the funds were allocated.
KITCHEN CLERK
GAARKEUKEN ROTTEDAM (2021-2022)
Volunteering at the Gaarkeuken Rotterdam proved to be one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Serving as a local Soup Kitchen, it provides meals for the residents of a decommissioned retirement home, which is now home to former drug addicts. It was eye-opening to understand a different segment of society than I was accustomed to. Contributing to my local community was a gratifying experience that taught me valuable life lessons.
ALLROUND VOLUNTEER
UKRAINIAN DIASPORA ROTTERDAM (2022)
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I was motivated to help alleviate the escalating humanitarian crisis. I contacted the Ukrainian organization in The Netherlands, also known as the Diaspora, to offer my support. I worked with the Rotterdam department and helped collect, sort, and distribute emergency supplies.
ENGLISH & IT TEACHER
HABIBI CENTER (2023-present)
As a UVA student, I actively pursued an internship with several humanitarian organizations but needed more time to secure one. In light of this, I opted to spend my time productively by volunteering. Through several hours of online research, I came across Stephanie from the Habibi Center and was immediately drawn to their inspiring initiative. Given my interest in working with Middle Eastern refugees, this would be the perfect opportunity to serve. Consequently, I am currently employed with the Habibi Center, teaching Middle Eastern refugees in Athens.
Even though my internship has ended, I'm excited to continue making a positive impact through the Habibi Center. That's why I've decided to remain a team member for at least another year. My internship was an invaluable learning experience, and staying on board is the best decision for me.
